Bespoke Entrance Transformation


Project Overview
This large-scale project involved the complete redevelopment of the property's entrance. Working together, Tall Oaks and Heritage Fencing & Gates delivered a fully integrated automated entrance system supported by extensive groundworks, structural masonry, and boundary improvements.
By managing the entire project in-house, the client benefited from a single coordinated team responsible for every stage of the installation — from site preparation and construction through to gate automation and access control.


The Challenge
The existing entrance required significant improvement to enhance both security and visual impact. The client wanted to create a defined and impressive gateway to the property while improving boundary security and vehicle access.
The project required:
- New brick entrance walls and structural piers
- A wider driveway entrance
- Bespoke hardwood automated gates
- Upgraded fencing and boundary improvements
- Landscaping and driveway alterations
Careful coordination between masonry works, groundworks, and gate installation was required to achieve a seamless result.



Our Solution
Bespoke Hardwood Entrance Gates
Heritage Fencing & Gates designed and installed handcrafted Iroko hardwood driveway gates.
Gate specifications:
- Double-leaf swan-neck entrance gates
- Premium Iroko hardwood construction
- 3.79m wide × 1.8m high rising to 2.1m centre
- Fully clad tongue-and-groove design
- 70mm hardwood frame with profiled stiles
- Liberon Teak Oil finish with UV protection
Masonry & Entrance Construction
Tall Oaks constructed new brick entrance walls and pillars to create a strong architectural gateway.
Works included:
- Approximately 20 metres of red brick wall construction
- 1m high walls with 1.8m pillars at regular intervals
- Curved bell-mouth entrance design
- Two 1.8m entrance piers (440mm square)
- Concrete capping to all pillars and piers
- Driveway opening widened to 4.2 metres



Boundary Fencing Installation
Additional fencing was installed to complete the upgraded boundary.
Works included:
- 24 metres of fencing installation
- 1.8m V-Notch closeboard fencing
- Retaining fence sections
- Hit-and-miss softwood fencing between existing pillars
- Removal of existing chainlink fencing
Landscaping & Groundworks
Extensive site preparation works were completed to improve the surrounding entrance area.
Works included:
- Removal of shrubs, vegetation, and landscaping clearance
- Levelling of front garden areas
- Meadow seed planting to newly prepared areas
- Excavation behind brick piers
- Block paving lifted and relaid to extend driveway area
- Construction of a two-step approach to the property post box
Gate Automation & Safety
The entrance gates were automated using FAAC underground gate motors, providing reliable and discreet operation.
Automation system included:
- FAAC underground motors
- FAAC control board
- Safety photocells
- Remote access devices
- Wired exit loop for vehicle detection
This setup ensures safe, smooth operation while maintaining the clean aesthetic of the entrance with no visible above-ground operators.
